How to reach Kedarnath from delhi?

Kedarnath Dham, One of the holy trek of Lord Shiva. It is situated in Rudraprayag district of Garhwal region in Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the char dham trek. It is also regarded as the important dham among Panch Kedar. Many pilgrims visit the trek every year to seek the blessings from the Lord. The temple is situated at an altitude of 3586 meters near the beautiful Mandakini river. The shrine has a well meaning of "Kedar", which means powerful (another name of Lord Shiva). The snow covered mountains, that cooled air & greenary makes the place more Beautiful, one of the reason people visit the place very much. Everyone has a dream to go Kedarnath, but not everyone gets a chance to visit. so, if you visit the trek, feel yourself very lucky. The main attraction of the place is Shiva Temple which is nestled in the mid of the scenic landscape. Below are the travel guide to kedarnath.
NOTE: Please note that the Kedarnath Temple is not yet open for pilgrims & devotees as on 17th May 2021, stay updated when the pilgrims are allowed to go for the trek & plan accordingly.
Kedarnath By Road :
To reach kedarnath by road the one needs to come Gaurikund, which is 285 kms from Delhi ISBT Kashmiri gate. There are a lot of buses run between these two points. The bus services are provided by Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. You can also go by your personal vehicle, you can hire the taxi (available from delhi), or you can hire self driven car. If you are males only and can go by bikes, that would be the brownie to the trip. After reaching gaurikund, you have to trek for the the Temple. either you can walk for the temple or you can opt for palki service or kandi & Mule/Ponies. These services can be booked at Gaurikund/Sonprayag. Below are the rates of palki.
- Gaurikund to Kedarnath Kandi costs Rs/- 3350
- Gaurikund to Poni costs Rs/- 4100
- Gaurikund to Kedarnath Palki costs Rs/- 4450
Kedarnath By Air:
There is an air facility available to reach kedarnath, it is very comfortable. so if anyone wants to experience Air facility, can avail it. But i would suggest if you are able to trek, then prefer to walk. As this is the facility is provided for those who are unable to walk or cant do the trek by walk. However, there is no restriction for anyone to avail this facility.
From Dehradun : The helicopter services are available from dehradun. You have to travel till Shastradhara helipad in dehradun & then the helicopter will take you to the destination in approx 45 mins.
From Haridwar / Rishikesh : To take the helicopter services from haridwar you need to travel till phata via taxi & then the helicopter will take you to kedarnath.
- Take shared cab or personal taxi to reach Gaurikund from sonprayag.
- Gaurikund to Jungle chatti is 4 kms through Rambara bridge.
- Jungle chatti to Bheembali is 3 kms trek.
- Bheembali to Linchauli is 4 kms trek.
- Linchauli to kedarnath Base camp is 4 kms trek.
- Kedarnath Base camp to kedarnath Temple is 1 km only.
- Make sure to get the health check up done before going to kedarnath trek.
- People who have health issues like heart, respiratory & blood pressure should not take the trek without consulting the doctor.
- If you want to opt the Palki, Kandi & Ponies, then make sure to book this in advance from Gaurikund/Sonprayag.
- Keep in mind to trek only in between 4 AM to 1.30 PM.
- You can take rest if you are unable to complete the trek till late evening. There are many camps nestled at Jungle Chatti, Bheem Bali & Linchauli for a night & then start the journey next morning.
